What does Bazaar mean?
A bazaar (بازار) is a marketplace consisting of multiple small stalls or rows of shops. Bazaars in the Middle East were traditionally located in covered streets that had doors on each end and served as a city's central marketplace. Street markets are the equivalents here in Canada.
Located in the historic centre of Cairo; Khan el-Khalili (خان الخليلي) is the most famous bazaar in Egypt and one of the “must see” spots in Cairo!
Established between 1382-1389, it has since become one of Cairo's main attractions for tourists and Egyptians alike. It is also home to many Egyptian artisans and workshops involved in the production of souvenirs and traditional crafts that we aim to sustain.
