What is Cotton Duck?

Cotton duck is a heavy plain woven cotton fabric, more tightly woven than plain canvas and known for its durability. It has history with being used for a wide range of heavy-duty applications; from sneakers, painting canvases, tents, boat sails, to work clothing.

The word 'Duck' in the name has nothing to do with waterfowl, it got its name from the Dutch word 'doek' for 'cloth'!

Duck cloth has existed for a long time, but not many recognize it by its name. It is woven with two yarns together in the warp and a single yarn in the weft. cotton duck is a tighter plain weave canvas that is usually heavier than other styles of canvas. Originally made with natural cotton and has diverse uses and applications.
